Philosopher Seeds wants to invite all you guys to the Mani-Fiesta-Acción, a march for cannabis legalization that will take place the next Sunday, 28th May (Puerta del Sol, Madrid) under the heading "A day for responsible regulation".

It'll start at 17h with a multitudinary march which will be closed with a great concert, where various cannabis friendly, renowned artists have been invited.

The main goals of this inititative are obvious: to claim for the rights of cannabis users and growers, for the cannabis sector to be understood as a generator of wealth for society, and also to dignify cannabis seeds as a cornerstone of this industry.

Regular seeds are the basis of all cannabis varieties known today. Despite the success of feminized seeds, which took over the seed market almost a couple of decades ago, many growers still prefer regular strains for several reasons, such as originality of genetics, quality or breeding purposes.

The origins of most feminized seeds marketed today come from señlections of regular seeds made at the end of the past century, which were then used to make the first feminized cannabis hybrids. Regulating cannabis, either for medical or recreational purposes, is still an issue that every country must face individually, especially after the failure of UNGASS 2016, where a way to develop global drug policies could not be found. However, in 2016 we've seen great advances with regard to decriminalise cannabis use, particularly in Latin America. In this article we'll take a look at the current situation of cannabis in Argentina (the last country to approve its therapeutic use) and also at the importance of social movements, which with their tenacity and efforts have achieved that the government takes a step forward.

Back in 2013, Uruguay already became the first country to legalize medical and recreational cannabis use, sale and production (controlled by the State). Soon after, Colombia and Chile regulated the therapeutic use. Now, it is time for Argentina, which has allowed the import and distribution of cannabis oil (although many people claim that this is not enough since growing is still illegal).

A new edition of the LIFT Expo, one of the most important cannabis events in Canada, was held during the weekend of the 17th and 18th of September 2016 in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. Philosopher Seeds’ first steps in Italy

About two years ago, our team landed in Italy, just when the cannabis industry had just come out from a harsh persecution that had lasted several years. At that time, not many brands were interested in investing in this country. Both the stringent laws regarding drug use and the strong presence of the church in institutions made this beautiful country a difficult place where cannabis cultivation for self-supply was unlikely to prosper. At present, a change in the course of events seems to be happening, since the end of the Fini Giovanardi law has been the starting point for many growers to get out of the closet as they don’t feel persecuted for growing marijuana for their self-supply. Many people are interested now in starting cannabis-related businesses,  while growers and users are joining groups of cannabis activists to make their contribution.

Last 7 February, in Tenerife, the awards of the 8th edition of the Canary Island Cup were held, one of the most recognized events in the Canary Islands. Besides this cup, the 3rd Grow Seminar also took place during those days, where we could also enjoy a zone with stands and music concerts.
This year, Philosopher Seeds entered the competition for the first time, winning the first prize in the CBD category with Jack el Frutero , which reached 10,76% of this valued cannabinoid.

Philosopher seeds was established as a collective of marijuana breeders who share their genetic collections and create new hybrids with new features. Among this group of breeders we find the passion and experience of one of the pioneers of cannabis breeding in Catalonia, Jimi from Reggae Seeds, creator of the renowned strain Juanita la Lagrimosa - the first recognized high CBD commercial strain – and other famous hybrids that have entered the cannabis seed market through several seedbanks.

It all started when Jimi bought a batch of New York City Diesel seeds from Soma Seeds in which he found a male capable of transmitting its high CBD content to its offspring.  Jimi pollinated some female plants with this male, creating what would become his first breeding lines, where he found that all resulting hybrids offered CBD levels never seen before (up to 10%) in a variable percentage. This was also the beginning of the relationship between CBD and Philosopher Seeds.
