Blue Drean, Blueberry x Super Silver Haze
Everything points to the area of Santa Cruz (California) where Blue Dream began to forge its legend, acquiring great fame among connoisseurs and smokers of weed, a strain of cannabis that spread only from cuttings that could only be accessed by those growers of the most underground circuits.
A hybrid of Blueberry and Super Silver Haze, Blue Dream owes much of its development to DJ Short, the renowned breeder behind Blueberry and the blue family. Blueberry won Best Indica at the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup. With an 8-week flowering period, its broad-leafed Indica structure develops stunning blue hues towards the end of flowering, alongside red fruit aromas with earthy and slightly acidic notes. Its effect is balanced, pleasant, and relaxing.
Super Silver Haze is one of the most iconic sativas from the Haze family, a multi-award-winning strain known for its Sativa effect and citrus incense aroma, with a flowering period of 10–11 weeks.
Blue Dream, a high-yielding strain
Blue Dream thrives in all growing environments, indoors, outdoors, and in greenhouses. A robust strain, it responds well to both organic and mineral fertilisers when applied gradually. Its ease of cultivation makes it ideal for beginners, while commercial growers appreciate its high yields.
Once flowering begins, Blue Dream can stretch up to three times its initial size, so excessive growth during the vegetative stage before flowering is not recommended. It responds well to pruning and training techniques.
Indoors, it can yield over 600g per m2 in a 120cm x 120cm space within 8–9 weeks. Outdoors, with ample root space and direct sunlight, it can surpass 1kg per plant and grow up to 3m tall, ready for harvest in early October in the Northern hemisphere.
Blue Dream, citrus incensed buds
A fusion of two Old School strains, Blue Dream is a highly productive hybrid with large, dense flowers and impressive bag appeal. Its citrus and incense terpenes stand out, reminiscent of Super Silver Haze, with a slightly sour, earthy background characteristic of Blueberry.
With a high calyx-to-leaf ratio, trimming is made easier by removing fan leaves a few days before harvest. Due to its large, compact buds, drying should be done in a controlled environment with low humidity and proper air circulation.
Blue Dream, Sativa Haze effect
Blue Dream’s effects are felt almost immediately, initially uplifting and energetic, inherited from one of the best sativas (Super Silver Haze), before transitioning into a deeply calming and harmonious state.
When consumed in excess, its effects can become intensely relaxing, even narcotic, making time seem to slow down and inducing mental blankness.
Although Blue Dream carries the aromas and effects of a Haze Sativa, it grows like an Indica. Its fast growth and high productivity have made it a staple in California.
Its effects are powerful and offers sensations difficult to experience rarely found in higher potency strains. While it does not exceed a THC of 30%, it can reach up to 25%, with a well-balanced synergy between terpenes and cannabinoids.
